ONGOING ACTIVITY: YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROJECT IN KILOLO DISTRICT

As a result of the research done by Tulime Organization on two areas namely;
1.

Re-thinking on the role of co-curricular activities in developing students’ talents in secondary schools in Tanzania: The case of public and private schools in Njombe Town council.

2.

The role of gender and policies in addressing climate change: The case of Tanzania.

IT has been evidenced that there is a great need in empowering youths by developing there talents something which has been forgotten or not taken into consideration by the formal education.

On the other hand it has been evidenced that women and girls are very close to nature, thus the increase of climate change have more impacts on them. As a result, climate change is not a problem of waiting rather than a problem which needs immediate solution by using our local resources as it affects the way we live and the way we interact with nature.

The current project therefore, aims at searching youths talents in different sports areas such football, netball, basketball, athletics and music. To start with football, a district football team creation is on progress, currently we are selecting players. The suggested name is UDZUGWA HEROES. In connection with environmental conservation, the project aims at using sports to educate, train and motivate the community on the importance of conserving our environment.

Who is TULOG?

Tulime organization is youth led Non Governmental Organization that was created pursuant to the Tanzania Non-Governmental Organization Section 12(1) Act No.24 of 2002. 0n 2011 September and officially registered on May 2012 It operates at national level. 

The Organization Mission is to carry out activities in the areas of social welfare and social-health, charity, education, training, and civil rights protection. This will be carried out locally, for disadvantaged individuals and groups due to their physical, mental, economic and social conditions.

The organization has the following activities:

a) Enhance creativities among youths based on exchanges of social experiences, skills, technology, new competences in dealing with social issues, concrete and cordial cooperation’s with the urban and rural communities, working with these communities through the provision of technical expertise of its members, their personal work, and their organizational and social experience.

b) Creating youth vocational training centers aiming at providing youth vocational and social skills for reduction of prostitution, drugs, alcohol and unemployed youths.

c) Overcome discrimination between men and women and the rights of children, girls and adolescents over land ownership, properties ownership.

d) Promote youths’ sharing experiences on issues of environmental protection as a war against climate change which has become a threat to social and economic development.

e) Create working friendship and respect, responsibility, initiative, both among the volunteers, the aid workers and the community where they work, that between members of the community

f) Take charge of exploitation and injustice situations which affect the current world weighting, when it is possible, on the causes that generate them by a commitment and solidarity..

g) Promote, compliance with the Charter of the United Nations as part of life and the ideal of each nation and the universal respect for justice, law, human rights and fundamental freedoms without distinction of race, sex, age, language, religion and contributes building a peaceful world, so that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Constitution in its listing of independent countries is a reality.

h) Among other things the organization deals with social assistance, charity, education, training, civil right protection and social protection for disadvantaged groups.
